Design and concreteness are harmoniously combined in Zenith’s new Defy Classic Black Ceramic, the first model of the Defy Classic collection made of this material, characterized by excellent hardness and characterized by black tones. The fascinating exhibition of micromechanics and the excellent performances give this model a very modern metropolitan style.
The Defy Classic has emerged as Zenith’s expression of neo-futuristic horology in its purest form. With the Defy Classic Black Ceramic, its typical characteristics are embodied in dark colors with refined shades and its unique and visionary architecture, both inside and out.
Made of black ceramic based on zirconium oxide, the faceted case of 41 mm in diameter presents an alternation of polished and satin surfaces that enhance the particular design, recalling the original Zenith Defy collection, presented for the first time in the seventies .
The angular silhouette of the case is softened by the circular ring. The strength of the Defy Classic Black Ceramic is certainly its innovative skeleton dial. The multi-layered element takes on a star shape and harmoniously merges the display with movement.
In the light of day, the faceted hands and the applied indexes seem to be one with the burnished set of the skeleton dial and the visible parts of the movement, with their shiny surfaces treated with ruthenium that glisten in the darkness, offering an excellent readability of the indications.
At night, the Super-LumiNova SLN C1 coating emits a faint green glow that resembles a city’s night lights. Visible through the skeletonized dial and sapphire caseback of the Defy Classic, here is the automatic movement of manufacture, caliber Elite 670.
The Elite caliber, for decades one of the basic movements of the Zenith range, is now presented for the first time in a skeleton version. All of its anatomy has been redesigned not only aesthetically, but also from the point of view of performance: the Elite caliber of the Defy Classic adopts in fact an escape wheel and an anchor made of silicon. The Defy Classic Black Ceramic is combined with an integrated unistructure black rubber strap.
