Since its launch, Amazon Handmade has grown to encompass 10 categories (including Jewelry, Home & Kitchen, Stationery and Party Supplies) from thousands of artisans across more than 30 countries.

Jamil Ghani, Vice President of Amazon Prime International said that Singapore Prime members can expect more added benefits in the future.

Amazon have launched Prime in Singapore offering free delivery on millions of products along with streaming media benefits.

Prime members here are eligible for free worldwide shipping on orders above $60 of more than five million items from Amazon's USA store, which are available on the Singapore Prime Now mobile app.

The Prime membership here costs $8.99 per month.

However, as an introductory offer, Amazon only charge S$2.99, though Amazon decline to inform of how long the promotion will last.

Speaking to The Straits Times, Mr Ghani acknowledged that some living in the country already have Amazon Prime memberships for the USA site. Ever since Amazon launched its handmade marketplace in October 2015, Etsy has had a rough time fending off the e-Commerce giant as it seeks to remain the leader in localized, handcrafted goods.

However, he encouraged "anyone living in Singapore to leverage the Prime membership package developed specifically for Singapore" and noted that Prime membership is country-specific and not transferable, which means that those with US Prime memberships can not convert them to local ones.

Prime members will also be able to access content in Prime Video and Twitch Prime. Though everything points to an eventual local Amazon online store, he remained mum about their plans.

These services would be sought now that the American retailer has ended its Free AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping service to Singapore.

But administrative assistant J. Tan, 38, said he was disappointed that items he had been eyeing, such as the Nintendo Switch game console, are not available through the Prime Now app and no longer qualify for free shipping on the United States store. The company says it will expand LiveUp beyond Singapore into other Southeast Asian markets soon, including Indonesia, which Amazon is also eyeing as a key growth market. "We will keep making Prime better, adding even more selection and benefits".
