Rick Snyder will call a special election to fill out John Conyers' term in the U.S. House after the lawmaker retired amid sexual harassment allegations by former staff members.

Reed said Tuesday that Conyers likely will call the radio show because his client shouldn't "risk his health" by traveling outside in the cold weather.

Conyers then went on to say that "incidentally", he was endorsing his son, John Conyers III, to replace him in Congress, adding, "I'm in the process of putting my retirement plans together and I will have more about that very soon".

"It is not up to Nancy Pelosi", attorney Arnold Reed told reporters at a news conference late last month.

A third woman, Deanna Maher, said Conyers made three sexual advances toward her when she worked for him in his district office in Detroit from 1997 to 2005, CNN reported last week.

Elisa Grubbs, who says she worked for Conyers (D-Mich.) from 2001 to 2013, released the statement through lawyer Lisa Bloom on Twitter. "The other accuser is Grubbs' cousin, the Free Press noted".

In the affidavit, Grubbs said Brown told her, "That SOB just wanted me to have sex with him".

The revelations against Conyers came amid a flurry of allegations of sexual misconduct against several of his colleagues in both the House and Senate, including Reps.

"My legacy can't be compromised or diminished in any way by what we're going through now".

"I'm now in Israel on a fact finding mission with African American leaders from the Midwest", Ian Conyers tweeted just minutes after his grand-uncle's radio interview ended.

John Conyers returned to Detroit from Washington last week and was hospitalized on Wednesday after complaining that he felt light-headed. The interview on the Mildred Gaddis radio show is still ongoing. And a former scheduler complained of sexual harassment and retaliation.

"I think there should be a complete disclosure and revealing to all the citizens in the country what federal legislatures are doing or not doing - and any cost that may have incurred as a result of that", Conyers said.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Rep. John Conyers will not seek re-election after his current term. When sexual-misconduct allegations surface in the private sector, a boss really can say "You're fired" - as Matt Lauer, Charlie Rose and others can attest. Conyers has denied all the allegations, and on Tuesday, wrote the accusations off as "politics".

The 88-year-old congressman is facing several sexual harassment allegations from former staff members.

Following these accusations, House minority leader Nanci Pelosi eventually asked Conyers to step down, as did Rep. James E. Clyburn.

Conyers, who was first elected in 1964 and went on to become a founding member in 1971 of the Congressional Black Caucus, easily won re-election previous year to his 27th term in the heavily Democratic district.
