Sheriff: Search underway for missing 3-year-old girl in Jacksonville

"She's my baby, she's my everything", said Kristy Woods in a press conference.

Woods has been described as a white female about 2 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 30 pounds. Mariah was last seen by her mother's boyfriend late Sunday night and was reported missing Monday morning.

Anyone with information about the child's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Onslow County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division at 910-989-4070 or Crime Stoppers at 910-938-3273. Woods said he cooperated and gave as much information as he could. A detailed timeline is crucial to helping us find this little girl. "This ain't true. I mean, really", he said. "I heard her name over the radio and I was like, 'Do what?"

The search is being conducted both by ground and by air with drones and helicopters. Family members said the girl has an orthopedic leg problem, causing her left leg to wobble as she walks.

She says she calls Mariah "an angel" because she unexpectedly got pregnant with her after she got her tubes tied. He said he custody of the children for around a month past year after an incident that alerted Child Protective Services, but when Hunter got the kids back, she reportedly wasn't cooperative in allowing Woods visitation.

Mariah's father, Alex Woods, who does not live with her mother, has expressed skepticism about the circumstances surrounding his daughter's disappearance.

Family members said there was no sign of forced entry or anything wrong with Mariah's room but did mention the back door was unlocked.

"It said, "3-year-old Mariah Kay Woods" and I was like, 'What?"

WITN reports that a dive team from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office with at least one K9 unit and a boat, are at the Southwest Creek Bridge. She has been missing from her home since November 26, 2017.

Wednesday, 4 p.m. - Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said over 225 agents from more than 14 local, state and federal agencies are in on the investigation.

They say they found some items of interest in the woods behind the home, but are unsure if it's connected to the girl's disappearance yet.

Emergency responders and investigators saw no obvious injuries when they responded to the victim's home on Sunday, the coroner said. Authorities searching for the missing toddler are asking residents to comb through their properties for anything "out of the ordinary" in the hope that someone will come forward with information that leads them to the little girl.
