Yahoo Sports reported Sunday that Florida is pursuing Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen as its next football coach.

Mullen won two national championships at Florida as offensive coordinator under Urban Meyer.

Following the 2014 season, Mullen criticized former defensive coordinator Geoff Collins for leaving MSU for the same position at Florida calling it a "lateral move".

Jim McElwain was supposed to change things in Gainesville. This Florida team ranks No. 111 in total offense, the third consecutive season a Florida offense ranked outside the Top 100 in total offense.

John Wall Out At Least Two Weeks
If he's been playing this well through injury, there's a real possibility he sees a bump when he comes back healthy. Early Saturday, the Washington Wizards announced that John Wall underwent an MRI exam on his injured left knee.

Congress promise of reservation to Patidars a 'political gimmick', says former ASG
The Congress formula to give reservations to Patidars including OBC and non-reserved categories will change the Gujarat game. On Monday, PAAS supporters ransacked Congress offi ces in Surat after the party declared its fi rst list of candidates.

Mississippi State fans are sure to be disappointed with the development, but this could be quite the rivalry in the SEC for years to come. Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin, who was Mullen's former boss at MSU, knows enough about him from hands-on experience to decide whether he's a good fit.

If Gruden doesn't take the job, the Vols will look at two other coaching candidates, according to SEC Country's Brian Stultz.

Foley didn't interview Mullen for either of his most recent failed football hires - Muschamp and McElwain - and those decisions have sent the Gators football program to a spiral of irrelevancy. Stricklin and Mullen worked together in Starkville, Mississippi, from 2009 to 2016. Along with coaching quarterback Tim Tebow at Florida, Mullen also coached Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith at Utah and Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott at Mississippi State.

Florida fired McElwain under unusual circumstances in late October after McElwain made a vague reference to death threats in a press conference and refused to provide details of them to Florida officials.
