King said, "This is not the man I know", describing a five-year friendship with Rose that began when they launched the morning show together in 2012.

Of the two dozen or so Rose employees interviewed for the story, the Post says more than half either witnessed outright harassment or behavior that made them uncomfortable.

Eight women came forward with allegations that Rose sexually harassed them between the 1990s and 2011, the Washington Post reported on Monday.

CBS suspended Rose shortly after The Washington Post published a 5,000-word story on Monday about alleged harassment, based on interviews with eight women who described "unwanted sexual advances".

She added: "This has to end".

In a statement, Rose apologised and said he was "greatly embarrassed".

"I've often heard that things used to be different", the news division president said. Rose would also ask her for details on her sex life and, like with Bravo, walk around naked in front of her. Godfrey-Ryan said that Rose fired her when he got word of how she complained about his behavior.

Co-anchor Norah O'Donnell: "Women can not achieve equality in the workplace or in society until there is a reckoning and a taking of responsibility".

Norah O'Donnell and Gayle King, Rose's co-hosts of "CBS This Morning", addressed the allegations against their former co-host on their Tuesday morning show. There is no excuse for this alleged behavior. "I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate".

The consensus view in the television news industry is that Rose will not return to the CBS broadcast or to his nightly talk show on public broadcasting.

Rose received an honorary degree as a doctor of humane letters from the State University of NY at Oswego in 2014 when he spoke on a Media Summit panel with Oswego State alumnus Al Roker. "We are deeply disturbed to learn of these allegations and are immediately suspending the show from airing on Bloomberg TV", Bloomberg said in a statement. "Let be very clear".

"I certainly echo that", King said. "I deeply regret not helping them". "I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken", the former 60 Minutes host continued.
