Families celebrate National Adoption Day at Family Court

The Rhode Island Family Court finalized 21 adoptions with 15 different families Saturday at their 14th Annual National Adoption Day.

She got her wish four years later, after her brother had been living with her as a foster child for almost a year. The emotional ceremonies at courthouses across the state are a long time coming for numerous families adopting.

Joshua and wife Amber Ley Cohn said, "If I couldn't have kids, I wanted to adopt".

"There is a lot of room in my heart, I guess, that I didn't know that was there", Doolittle said.

A special celebration was held at Orange County Courthouse for the biggest adoption day across the country.

"I just want to be able to do that for another child because no child should not have a family, everybody should have that because even at 25 I still need parents", Loughin said.

Many of those songs were recorded by other country music stars such as Kenny Rogers, George Strait and Ricky Skaggs. The American country music hitmaker passed way earlier today at Florida's Munroe Regional Medical Center.

They may not be related by blood but the bond is no less intense. It's a program that highlights Texoma families opening their homes to children in the foster care system.

"You get so invested, so involved, that it naturally comes", Christopher Youngman said. Another one of their siblings was adopted by a second family, and a fourth sibling is going through the adoption process with yet another family.

"We just hope for the best for all of us", Ida said. "It makes me feel happy, especially with my sister she's really nice", she says.

"It's more of a goal in life", Archibald said of adopting.
