Helicopter and aircraft collision in mid-air results in 'number of casualties'

Air safety authorities in the United Kingdom said Friday that a helicopter and an aircraft had been involved in a midair collision northwest of London.

Both aircraft had taken off from nearby Wycombe Air Park, a spokesman said.

"Firefighters are assisting the other emergency services following a mid-air collision between a light aircraft and a helicopter near Waddesdon at 12.06pm".

The crash happened in Upper Winchendon, close to Waddesdon Manor, though a spokeswoman for the estate said it had not happened on its grounds.

Waddesdon Manor, on the Rothschild family-owned estate near the Buckinghamshire crash site, described the latest incident as a "tragedy" and added it "did not happen at the manor nor have there been any casualties at Waddesdon Manor".

An airfield which offers training for rookie pilots has confirmed that two of its aircraft have crashed near a Buckinghamshire stately home.

Officers say the first priority is "preservation of life".

AWS sells China hardware to local cloud partner
The company confirmed that it has sold off its Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure to Sinnet, its local technology partner. Amazon Web Services confirmed in a statement reported by WSJ that this move was meant to meet compliance requirements in China.

Police chief Rebecca Mears said she could not yet give out the identities of the victims.

The plane involved is a Cessna 152 with a capacity for one pilot and one passenger.

Members of the Air Accident Investigation Branch were also deployed to the area to launch an inquiry into the crash.

RAF Halton, 10 miles away, said no military aircraft had been involved.

"There have been a number of casualties at the scene, but at this stage this is all we are able to confirm".

At least seven fire appliances were called to the scene and two urban rescue vehicles.

"There were a number of road closures following the incident which have now been lifted".
