Hope Solo accuses ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter of sexual assault

Hope Solo, the former goalie of the U.S. women's national soccer team, said the head of Federation Internationale de Football Association groped her in 2013 as they were about to present an award together.

Solo also took to Instagram to express her support for the ongoing #MeToo campaign, which aims to raise awareness of sexual assault and harassment. The newspaper published an excerpt from that conversation on Friday.

US forward Alex Morgan has said that Blatter failed to recognize her at the annual award event in 2012, even though she was one of three nominees for the women's Player of the Year.

Solo, who said she usually addresses harassment head on, said the circumstances prevented her from immediately confronting Blatter. Female players are pretty, if you excuse me for saying so, and they already have some different rules to men - such as playing with a lighter ball.
