The three carriers involved are the USS Ronald Reagan, the USS Theodore Roosevelt and the USS Nimitz.

"It is a rare opportunity to train with two aircraft carriers together, and even rarer to be able to train with three", said U.S. Pacific Fleet Commander, Adm. Scott Swift.

During the drill, the first of its kind in a decade, the warships will carry out air strike and defense simulations, maritime surveillance, sea supply, coordinated fenced maneuvers and other training, added the Navy.

The exercise will involve three of the Navy's 11 carriers, and concentrate more aircraft carriers the combined fleets of China and Russian Federation.

US defense officials noted recently the presence of the three USA carriers in the region was reassuring allies, even though it was long scheduled.

Animosity between the United States and the isolated regime could increase further when the first three-aircraft carrier exercise begins on Saturday.

For more than 70 years, the U.S. Pacific Fleet has been a persistent and stabilizing presence conducting operations throughout the region. A decade ago, Valiant Shield (VS) 2006 and 2007 had operated together off the coast of Guam, a US island territory in Micronesia, and focused on the ability to bring together forces from all the three strike groups in response to any regional situation.

WASHINGTON, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Three U.S. aircraft carrier strike groups will exercise together in the Western Pacific in the coming days in a rare show of force as President Donald Trump visits Asia with warnings about the nuclear threat from North Korea, U.S. officials say.

The strike exercise has come up amidst growing tensions on the Korean Peninsula over Pyongyang's nuclear arms and ballistic missile programs. "It is a hell that no person deserves", the CNN reported.

President Trump stood on the floor of the Unite Nations General Assembly several weeks ago and threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea, repeatedly insinuating the only way to deal with North Korea is through military force.

"This would be a fatal miscalculation".

These weapons tests, along with Trump's belligerent rhetoric, have escalated tensions to unprecedented levels since the end of the Korean War (1950-1953). "And do not try us".
