Boy, 10, leads police on 50-mile high-speed chase

The chase finally ended after about 45 miles when the boy slowed the auto down to avoid stop sticks, and a trooper nudged the vehicle into a mile post sign while the other troopers blocked the auto in.

According to authorities, the boy took the vehicle at around 9:00 am on Thursday morning.

After police stopped the auto, the boy was taken into custody.

Finally, after trying to re-enter the road, the boy and his borrowed vehicle were unable to make it out of the ditch that had just proven so useful to his roadway theatrics. "He kicked one of the troopers in the shin, he then spit in the face of the same trooper", Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper Richard Reeder said.

"Oh my f-- God", the woman told police after calling 911.

The state patrol picked up the chase when the boy entered I-80. During the roadblock, one trooper made eye contact with the boy and directed him to pull over, but he continued to flee, police said.

At times, with the boy driving erratically, the chase reached speeds of 100 miles an hour. "My son's going to kill himself before you guys get here".

The chase ended at 9:49 a.m., about one hour after he took off. Stunned drivers called Westlake police and reported seeing the young boy speeding and his mother tailing him.

Last week the boy stole a Dodge Charger was driving at a high rate of speed on Interstate 90.

His mother arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. Police said the kid stole his mother's boyfriend's auto and went on a joy ride on a busy highway.

"Why did you do this when I kept trying to get you to stop?" his mother asked.

According to a police report obtained by The Tribune, the boy allegedly stole his mother's auto on October 16. He was found later that day on Interstate 90 with three flat tires.
