Sole person-of-interest and husband of missing Portage teacher found dead

On Tuesday, the Allegan County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Portage police detectives found her body in a shallow grave south of M-89 and east of 46th Street in the Allegan Game Area. During a Wednesday news conference, police said that he hanged himself. They still didn't have enough of a case to make an arrest and they had no idea where to find her body.

Theresa's sister Joan Mullowney told The Huffington Post she contacted Lockhart when she heard the news about her sister's disappearance.

No one's seen Theresa Lockhart, pictured above, since May. After she vanished, cellphone activity and cellphone usage ceased, and none of her family heard from her. Theresa's husband, Christopher Lockhart, lawyered up immediately and refused to cooperate with police.

The body of Theresea Lockhart, a MI woman who had been missing since May, was found and identified on Tuesday.

Portage Public Safety Chief Nicholas Armold says they never cracked thru the wall that Lockhart put up after his wife's disappearance. "To be truthful, he seemed rather lackadaisical in his attitude ... definitely not the attitude of a loving husband whose wife is missing".

Allegan County Undersheriff Mike Larsen declined to say if investigators believe it's the body of Theresa Lockhart, a high school Spanish teacher, but he says foul play is suspected.

A 154 day investigation ensued into her whereabouts, Portage police said. In addition to teaching Spanish full time, she taught a leadership class, contributed to afterschool activities, and was an adviser for the school's National Honor's Society.
