41 soldiers killed by Taliban at Kandahar army camp

The Post reports that the Taliban are increasingly using US -made Humvees in their suicide attacks.

India Thursday condemned the terrorist attack on the Afghan national army base in Kandahar province that killed 43 Afghan soldiers, officials said.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack which the ministry said targeted a police training centre attached to the headquarters in Gardez, the capital of Paktia province.

The Dawn quoted Khalid Pashtun, a member of parliament from the province, as saying that at least 41 soldiers were killed in the attack, which began late Wednesday.

"The whole base is destroyed", Waziri said.

Militants were once again attacking a police base in Ghazni on Thursday, but officials did not have information on casualties.

The two bombs went off in succession on Wednesday night, triggering clashes between the Afghan army and militants.
