Brother held in fatal stabbing of young siblings

A 19-year-old accused of fatally stabbing his two young siblings and wounding his father is due to make his first court appearance Wednesday.

Colorado Springs Police have arrested a second suspect in a shooting near Doherty High School in September.

Police responded to the home just after 1 a.m. Tuesday on reports of a stabbing.

Malik Murphy was arrested early Tuesday morning at 912 Carlisle St. after the attacks on his 5-year-old sister, Sophia, and 7-year-old brother, Noah.

The two children had each suffered stab wounds to their necks and were pronounced dead at the hospital.

The two fought until the suspect's father was able to detain him in the garage, according to a police document.

Murphy looked down when the judge addressed him. He said he wanted to live alone at the home and he purchased a knife several months ago with the plan to kill his family.
