Bodies found locked in embrace in California national park

The family of Rachel Nguyen, the missing hiker who was missing since July, has released their first public statement since Nguyen's body was believed to be found alongside Joseph Orbeso in a remote region of Joshua Tree National Park this past weekend.

The bodies were discovered on the north side of the Maze Loop Trail in Joshua Tree, KESQ and ABC7 reported.

Rachel Nguyen, 21, of Westminster, and 21-year-old Joseph Orbeso, of Lakewood, were last seen July 27.

Orbeso's father, Gilbert, and a group of search and rescue workers launched a months-long search for the hikers, making a huge breakthrough on Sunday as they scaled 30-foot cliffs and covered new ground. I feel like we have closure.

The bodies were found Sunday but they were recovered Monday, Jodi Miller, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said, adding that autopsies will determine the causes of death.
