Nirmala Sitharaman teaches Chinese soldiers how to say namaste

Sitharaman, during a visit to Nathu La, interacted with Chinese soldiers at the border, teaching them how to say "namaste".

Sitharaman then pressed her hands together and greeted the soldiers with a smile.

"India and China are both great nations".

When Indian soldiers present there try to prompt the answer, she promptly stops them, telling them to let the Chinese figure out the meaning on their own.

But it noted that she had friendly interactions with Chinese soldiers in Nathu La.

The Commanders' conference will be conducted over next three days till 12 October wherein discussions will take place on various subjects that will decide the future trajectory of the Indian Air Force which includes operations, maintenance issues and various administrative initiatives that will be taken to enhance the working environment of the IAF.

Army officials briefed the Defence Minister on security preparedness along the Indo-China border in the Sikkim sector. She also asked the Indian Army to continue "leveraging its strength in diplomatic defence cooperation with neighbourhood and in the region".

At Solmara Military Station in Tezpur, she appreciated the high standards of military discipline and preparedness of the army men and their excellent performance in the hard terrain and challenging environment. She had visited the Northern Command areas in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the Siachen camp on Vijayadashami day.
