Huskers can't keep momentum against Badgers

Whether it was staying true to its identity or because they were inspired by the occasion, No. 9 Wisconsin aped the 1997 Cornhuskers' strengths - physical running game, strong defense - in answering its latest challenge.

Particularly after the Cornhuskers appeared to swing momentum their way early in the second half with a defensive touchdown that unleashed a deafening roar from the sellout crowd of almost 90,000.

Aaron Williams' 14-yard interception return for a touchdown with 10:42 left in the third quarter tied the score at 17 and the Huskers should have had all the momentum. The Boilermakers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Wisconsin, 1-10 ATS in their last 11 meetings and the road team is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.

Wisconsin ran on eight of 10 plays in a 93-yard drive for the go-ahead touchdown with Quintez Cephus scoring on a five-yard pass.

The touchdown pass to Cephus was the 17th attempt of the night for Hornibrook.

Taylor, who carried 25 times, had his second 200-yard performance in five games and the Badgers finished with 353 rushing yards, their most on the road since going for 564 yards at in in 2012.

Wisconsin scored the game's final 21 points in a 38-17 win over Nebraska football in Lincoln.

For the second half the Badgers painfully showed Nebraska fans what it's like to play championship football. Cornhuskers QB Tanner Lee's tipped-ball interception in the first quarter was his 10th in six games, tops in FBS.
