Sri Lanka retained control of the Test, and by extension the series, thanks to Dimuth Karunaratne's 196 and a pair of sprightly fifties from Niroshan Dickwella and Dilruwan Perera. The match, second of the two-game series, is Sri Lanka's first day-night Test with the pink ball.

Pakistan have never lost a Test series in the UAE since making it their adopted home in 2010.

The team Pakistan panicked in the face of pressure - not for the first time. The second Test has started in 6th October, 2017 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai which is a day night match. Chandimal, who was dropped on 1, was finally out for 62, bowled leg before by Yasir Shah. Mohammad Aamir, since he returned to worldwide cricket in January 2016, has bowled 821.3 overs collectively across all three formats in global cricket, third-most by a fast bowler after Kagiso Rabada (896.3) and Josh Hazlewood (846.1).

Resuming at 3-254, Sri Lanka lost Chandimal to a lbw decision off Yasir. The ball took his inside edge, hit his thigh pad, and clattered into his stumps.

He tallied 15 fours and a maximum on a testing day in the field for Pakistan, for whom Yasir Shah took 2-90, while Mohammad Amir accounted for impressive debutant Sadeera Samarawickrama (38). He had bowled 16.3 overs on Friday before coming out to bowl only two overs on day two. Sami Aslam fetched the first boundary of the day when he guided Gamage past the slip and the gully, and in the following over, he stepped down to Dilruwan for his second four.

The last two matches of the five-match series will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on 20 and 23October. Karunaratne appeared exhausted after facing 405 balls and hitting 19 boundaries and a six. However, the Sri Lanka bowlers tasted early success to dismiss both the openers. Toss will take place half an hour prior to the first ball - 14:30 hrs PST.

In any event, Wahab collected himself at the tea break, and it was his discipline that helped keep Pakistan in the match through that Amir-less second session.
