Five Alabama Schools Awarded with National Blue Ribbon

"Being named a National Blue Ribbon School is a wonderful affirmation of our program", Principal Tim Gott said.

On November 6-7, these schools will be honored at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.by the U.S. Secretary and the Department of Education.

"National Blue Ribbon Schools are active demonstrations of preparing every child for a bright future", DeVos said in the news release.

"It is your hard work, your dedication, your time served and the relationships you've built that make Paddock Road what it is", Becker said, "a National Blue Ribbon school".

The schools receiving the honor include Classical High School in Providence, Community Elementary School in Cumberland, and Fishing Cove Elementary School in North Kingstown.

The U.S. Department of Education recognized 342 schools nationally. Five Alabama schools were among the winners for their exemplary performance on state assessments.

The schools are Kindred Elementary in Kindred; Longfellow Elementary in Fargo; and Legacy Elementary in West Fargo.

"The biggest thing for us is that we have fantastic staff who build strong relationships with our kids and families", said Jason Reid, Pinon Hills Principal.

"We have the most handsome, hardworking and talented children who come to school each day ready to grow and learn", said Principal Jill Chambers.

The five other Virginia public schools that received the recognition were: Midway Elementary in Dinwiddie County, Emerick Elementary in Loudoun County, Mountain View Elementary in Rockbridge County, Union Hall Elementary in Pittsylvania County and Trinity School at Mountain View, a private school in Falls Church. U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos returned the honor Thursday, citing St. Josaphat as an "exemplary high-performing school". Public schools are nominated by each state's Department of Education.

"Our teachers have to be skilled in how to meet the needs of individuals of students", said Principal Stephanie McKenna. "The success of McCall is a reflection of a dedicated staff, students who came eager to learn each day, high levels of parent engagement and strong community partnerships".
