This release changes a lot of features for the iPad - especially the iPad Pro, and a significant amount for all versions of the iPhone.

iOS 11 is compatible with the iPhone 5s and later, the iPad mini 2 and later, the iPad Air and later as well as the most recent iPod touch. Here you can check if the iOS 11 has arrived for your device. But to do this, one needs to tap on a previous spoken query and then edit it.

Older iPhones used a 32-bit processor, meaning software also had to be written in 32 bits to work properly. The iOS 11 update should appear in there.

From there click Back Up Now. And encrypted backups include saved passwords and health data. Just do not forget to back up your data before you install the new OS. Click Restore iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch, and one or more listings should be there.

However, a year ago when iOS 10 was released some iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch owners got an incredibly unpleasant surprise. Now, in iOS 11, you will be able to customize Control Center to contain the apps and toggles that you use the most; not the ones Apple puts in there for you. If you don't see any apps listed - congratulations, everything on your device is compatible.

Users can avoid being locked out of their favourite apps by making sure they are updated before upgrading their operating system, which is optional.

The new Files app enables you to organise your files better, no matter where they are located. After all, if a developer isn't really interested in keeping an app around, you probably shouldn't bother using it. There's also a lot of dragging and dropping going on in iOS 11 for the iPad. But today, Apple officially confirmed in a press release that the peer-to-peer payment system would be coming in a later update to iOS 11 and watchOS 4, which should then be released sometime this fall. The 3-year cutoff is still in full effect, so only those devices that are significantly elderly will be bumped. But the fact the iPhone 5c can't run iOS 11 is also tied to Apple's decision not to support 32-bit apps. It's only fitting that users around the world go ahead and install the update today in order to experience what Apple has been working on. It's super simple, and there's only one other - slightly more hard - way to do it. Users can choose to connect their device to their MacBook, iMac, or PC with iTunes.

Next, click on the Download and Install.

If you've followed all the steps listed above, you're good to go. In addition, you'll now have the option to add up to 18 additional controls including the wallet, timer, stopwatch, notes, text size, just to name a few.

The Photos app too gets many updates.
