Several militant groups have sprung up, and Indian security forces have tried to wipe them out.

On Thursday evening, Indian powers got a tip that Abu Ismail and an associate, Abu Qasim, were stowing away in a house close Srinagar.

Police claimed recovery of two assault rifles from the spot.

The authorities have blocked 4G mobile internet services in the city following the killing of LeT commander. Security forces killed Dujana in early August.

Ismail was the mastermind of the July 10 attack on a bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, which left eight pilgrims dead. It resulted in the death of eight people and caused serious injuries to around a dozen pilgrims who were returning from the yatra. "Bodies were recovered from the site of encounter and placed at appropriate place for appropriate disposal", Khan said.

After his name figured as mastermind of the attack, Ismail was on run but under radar of the security forces, another police official said.

The Indian specialists said they had been surrounding Abu Ismail as of late. As many as 58 terrorists have been killed in south Kashmir alone this year. Ismail was an A++ category terrorist.
