After a week of destruction in the Caribbean, it was clear that Hurricane Irma was one for the books. Haiti and the Dominican Republic are ahead, and it is likely to hit Florida this weekend.

A separate composite image released by NASA on Friday shows hurricanes Jose, Irma and Katia in the Atlantic.

It is common for major storms to hit back to back, but to have more than one hit the U.S. in one hurricane season is rare, according to CBS.

Here is a great tool from WNYC to monitor the progress of all three hurricanes (you can switch between storms by selecting the name of the storm on the top left).

Maximum sustained winds are near 90 miles per hour (150 kph) with higher gusts.

After arriving in Mexico - as all hurricanes do when they hit land - Katia quickly weakened with winds of about 35 miles per hour.

Irma was the closest a Category 5 hurricane ever came to the Turks and Caicos islands. Hurricane Harvey hit southeastern Texas as a Category 4 storm on the wind scale, with top winds above 130 miles per hour, and finished with an ACE of 11.1.

It said a hurricane warning was in effect for parts of the Mexican state of Veracruz between Cabo Rojo and Laguna Verde, where it could dump 10 to 15 inches of rain. Mexico City could potentially be hit as well, if the storm maintains its strength after landfall.

Due to a large patch of dry air over Louisiana and Texas, Katia will not move northward into Hurricane Harvey-devastated areas, Accuweather reported.
