"I don't know a team that won a national championship that didn't have swagger".

Both of these teams enter Saturday night's game with something to prove.

Some people said USC didn't look like a No. 4-ranked team last week during a hard-fought win over Western Michigan.

"Here's the thing about college football: it is all about traditions", Conquest Chronicle's Josh Eccles said. The Cardinal's ability to adjust will determine their chances to make a Pac-12 North run.

It's no secret Stanford likes to line up and utilize its power rushing attack.

Although though Christian McCaffrey left for the National Football League, there seems to be no downfall in the Cardinals'rushing attack. The success starts up front, as coach David Shaw has recruited and helped to develop a standout group. But it's not an overstatement to say the Cardinal offensive line opened up a picture-perfect hole for Love to run through.

Southern California ran the ball straight at Stanford in the opening series, and the Trojans never stopped.

Syrian army: Israeli air raid on military position kills 2
Or when a mortar shell lands in the Israeli Golan from the fighting across the border, an IDF tank targets a Syrian Army position. He also noted that the strike had come as the world powers have ignored the red lines put forward by Israel in Syria.

USC: With 91 points in two games, this talent-laden offense appears to have the makings of a juggernaut so far. In their 62-7 win in Week 1, Love had 180 yards rushing and while he didn't have as great of a week against USC, he was still dominant nonetheless.

USC hosts Stanford in a primetime Pac-12 matchup. They dropped out of the top four after a sloppy showing against a scrappy but ultimately lesser Western Michigan team.

USC is a 6-point favorite, but let's go with Stanford in the upset. Darnold has two interceptions in three of his last five games. That performance certainly wasn't very bad but it wasn't up to the standard Darnold set in 2016.

Justin Herbert shined in Oregon's 42-35 victory over visiting Nebraska and in the first half, it looked as though Chip Kelly was back coaching with Marcus Mariota at times. Of course, that's not an easy assignment against Stanford. Oh, did the USC band play on, unveiling the same exhausted riff every 18 seconds or so. Darnold did not record a touchdown in Week 1. Junior Tyler Petite and sophomore Daniel Imatorbhebhe headline the options at tight end.

There will be no such illusions when No. 14 Stanford comes to the Coliseum on Saturday. He began the game 10-10 and ended the half 14-17 for 225 yards and three passing touchdowns. Chryst is 7-0 as Stanford's starter and has tossed only two picks in 169 career pass attempts. USC's performance against the run improved upon his return. Connor Wedington and Cameron Scarlett have combined for 138 receiving yards on seven catches while Kaden Smith has four receptions.

Keller Chryst is back at quarterback for Stanford after he underwent ACL surgery following the Sun Bowl. We are a team that has motivation and we're going to use it to drive us the rest of the year so that way nobody takes a play off, no one takes a practice off (and) we will be driven for the rest of the year to go out and accomplish what we intend to do.

It's important not to overreact to Week 1 results and performances. The Trojans won on Saturday, 42-24, but they started winning on Wednesday, or earlier. Was that a sign of things to come or did the Trojans hold back some with Stanford up next?
