After their first drive got shut down early in the quarter and ended with a blocked punt for a touchdown by the Steelers, Kizer got a lot of work in the first quarter under center for the Browns, and managed to put together a solid drive to end the quarter. The ball bounded into the end zone where it was recovered for a touchdown, the first of the day, in very Browns fashion.

The Cleveland Browns are building for the future - and it's a good thing, too, because the present looks very grim indeed.

Facing off against a rookie quarterback, DeShone Kizer, the front seven will have the opportunity to show how dominant they can be.

The Steelers had 62 yards of offense until the scoring drive that started at the Steelers 9.

The Steelers took a two-score lead over the Browns when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger slipped a two-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jesse James over the middle of the field with 5:37 to play in the third quarter. Two of the sacks were by rookie T.J. Watt, the younger brother of Houston star J.J. Watt, who also had an interception in a memorable debut.

Browns fans are no stranger to disappointment and misery, but usually it takes a little longer than four plays into the season for that to kick in.

The Browns bounced back from a disastrous start, just not far enough. Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell, in his first game after missing the preseason in a contract dispute, carried 10 times for 32 yards. QB Kevin Hogan, with zero National Football League starts, backed up rookie DeShone Kizer.
