Irma Sucking Tampa Bay and Ocean Around Naples Dry

Twitter user @Kaydi_K shared this video Saturday afternoon, and I knew right away that even though it looked as though it couldn't be possible, it was absolutely legit. Footage of a dry Bahamas shoreline hit the internet shortly after Irma swept through the Caribbean Islands.

Hurricane Irma has been classed as the highest Category 5 storm with winds topping 195mph.

"I am in disbelief right now.This is Long Island, Bahamas and the ocean water is missing!"

Angela Fritz, deputy weather editor of the Washington Post noted that extremely powerful hurricanes, such as Irma can change the shape of the ocean for a period of time.

In a video posted to Facebook on Saturday, a person is seen jumping off a pier onto what used to be the sandy bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

If not already there, the water is expected to be back by Sunday afternoon.

"Basically, Hurricane Irma is so strong and its pressure is so low, it's sucking water from its surroundings into the core of the storm", she writes.

This is being marked as one of the most extraordinary weather phenomena's in history. As the storm gobbles water towards its center, it gets pulled from its surroundings.

While some have speculated the disappearing water could indicate an incoming tsunami, that's not the case here.

It also sucked away ocean water from the shoreline at some beaches in the Bahamas.

People were filmed walking on sand on Long Island in the Caribbean island that would usually be covered by the sea.
