Barca crushed city rival Espanyol 6-0 on Saturday.

Espanyol have gone 16 games without a win against Barcelona in La Liga (losing 13 of those), their worst run without a win in the Catalan derby.

Was in the right place at the right time to make the most of his own opportunities when completing a hat-trick, while also showing great patience as team-mate Luis Suarez looked to be set for one of those nights before finally finding the back of the net when teed-up by substitute Ousmane Dembele in stoppage time.

Valencia and Atletico Madrid drew 0-0 in a game where the tactics of Diego Simeone and Marcelino Garcia produced a spectacle that was probably enjoyed more by both coaches than neutrals.

It took the Catalans 26 minutes to open the scoring on Saturday, when Messi reached Ivan Rakitic's pass and fired the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0.

Barca have a stunning fixture coming up in just a few days' time as they go head-to-head with Juventus in their UEFA Champions League 2017-18 opener on Tuesday.

The Spanish forward came close to doubling the lead from a free kick which whistled past the near post but Real pulled themselves level in the 36th minute when Lucas Vazquez tapped in from close range after Levante goalkeeper Raul Fernandez could only parry a header from Sergio Ramos.

The result continues Barcelona's 100% winning record, of which there are now only two teams in La Liga to boast such an achievement, and lifts the Catalonians four points above title holders Real Madrid, who were held to their second draw of the campaign earlier in the day.

"This is something we didn't want to happen".

"We lacked a bit of freshness to create chances".

Toni Kroos hit the post for Madrid in injury time, but to concede a late goal would have been harsh on Levante for a courageous and well-drilled display.
