No more female models in size 6

Christian Dior and and Gucci have pledged to stop using size zero models under a new code of welfare.

LVMH and Kering own some of the world's top fashion brands.

To begin with, female models, who are smaller than French size 34 - nearly equivalent to U.S. size 0 - and male models below French size 44 can not be featured on fashion shows or campaigns.

The groups are also trying to defend themselves against charges of causing eating disorders both among models and among women at large by promoting "size zero" images.

The presentation of a doctor's certificate, the need for a chaperone for younger models and the clause that they not work unreasonable hours all show the brands' growing awareness of the importance of treating models as humans, not commodities. It states that models under the age of 16 can not "take part in shows or shootings representing an adult".

The French law, which is slated to take effect on October 1, requires both male and female models to present a health certificate obtained within the previous two years.

The companies revealed this in a charter "to ensure the well-being of models", which both LVMH and Kering announced on their respective Facebook pages. Therefore, after consulting industry professionals, we have jointly developed guidelines, which go beyond the legal requirements, in order to ensure that fashion models are always provided with proper working conditions.

Tennessee guesses right on final 2-point attempt, topples Georgia Tech
Bain has a compelling story according to coach Jones. "In the locker room, he got the biggest cheer and respect from our players". All Marshall did on Tuesday night was terrorize the Tennessee defense as he accounted for 369 total yards and five touchdowns.

"We wanted to move quickly and hit hard so that things really change".

In addition, the law only regulates models working in France, whereas the two conglomerates restrictions will be applied worldwide - such as the Fashion Weeks kicking off Thursday in NY and continuing in London, Milan and Paris through early October.

The brands have committed to working exclusively with models who can provide a doctor's certificate obtained less than six months before a shoot or fashion show attesting to their good health and to put a psychologist at their disposal during their work.

It's the first time these two powerful corporations have come together to achieve a common goal-and, given their sway over so many influential brands, this might be the most concrete step toward a healthier (and, hopefully, more inclusive) industry we've seen in recent memory.

"As the leaders in the luxury industry, we estimate that it's our duty to be in line with this initiative", he said.

"We hope to inspire the entire industry to follow suit, thus making a real difference in the working conditions of fashion models industry-wide", he said.
