Apple today has sent out invites to select members of the press for an upcoming event at 10:00 am (PST) on September 12th.

Although the iPhone is not specifically mentioned in the invite, Apple traditionally unveils its new phone models in September of each year, before releasing them later in the same month. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the original iPhone, so Apple could potentially name this version the iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone 10 or. just iPhone.

This rebooted and totally refreshed smartphone looks likely to be one of the most radically different iPhones the world has ever seen.

Apple Inc (Apple) designs, manufactures and markets mobile communication and media devices, personal computers, and portable digital music players, and a variety of related software, services, peripherals, networking solutions, and third-party digital content and applications.

Although there is no official confirmation from Apple, a report from the Wall Street Journal claims that iPhone 8 will be unveiled on September 12.

Apple iPhone 8 is rumoured to come with edge-to-edge OLED screen. Other rumors include a faster processor, a water-resistant design, wireless charging, and an improved rear camera for better photos and enhanced augmented reality features. This is as the technolgy already made its debut in Apple iPhone 7 Plus past year. This is also the primary reason the company is dropping the Touch ID or possibly fingerprint sensor.

On another note, the new iPhone is also expected to have a much higher price tag, even as compared to its price line. As seen in the leaks, the report says the iPhone 8 will feature a longer power button on the side.
