Thousands March To Trump Tower to Defend Immigrant 'Dreamers'

Two Valley congressmen are among a group of 6 Republicans asking President Donald Trump to maintain deportation protections for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country as children.

The internet is buzzing that President Trump has chose to end the Obama-era DACA program as early as tomorrow, but White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders insisted today that no final decision has been made. But he changed his tune after the election, calling DACA one of the most hard issues he's grappled with.

The program has almost 790,000 recipients.

The DACA program grants two-year stays for undocumented immigrants brought to the United States before their 16th birthday who have attended school or joined the military and have not committed any serious crimes.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Thursday disputed the report, saying no final decision has been made.

According to the official, Trump is expected to announce the program's end but will allow so-called "dreamers" now in the program to stay in the USA until their work permits expire - which, for some, could be as long as two years. There are now more than 750,000 DACA recipients, according to the Pew Research Center, all of whom have a great deal to lose. Ending DACA would "disrupt the lives of so many people". Organizationally, this can be seen as more time to assess different scenarios, he said.

State attorney generals from 10 conservative states have threatened to sue the White House over the program's legality. "Indeed, I expect that the extraordinary young people at Princeton and other institutions of higher education who have benefited from the DACA program will be leaders in building the innovation economy that your administration has championed", Eisgruber wrote in his letter to President Trump.

"The White House is deeply split", said former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, an informal Trump adviser.

Employers are already searching for options to keep their DACA employees in place, in the event that the program goes away, said Borovska.

Asked if she has thought about what she will do if she loses her protective status that she received four years ago and could face deportation, Romero said she hasn't come up with a plan. Thus far, Trump and his crew have not offered any evidence of or even talked about offering any other potential in-roads to these DACA applicants.

He called on Congress to pass a "permanent resolution for these innocent kids". Romero was just a young teenager when her mother was deported and has younger sisters who are USA citizens.

Trump had been unusually candid about his struggles with the issue.

"They shouldn't be very anxious", Trump said of the young people in the program. But I faced many challenges along the way because I was undocumented.
