Barcelona are suing Neymar for a breach of contract after the Brazilian left the club for Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

The Brazil global made the 222m euro move to the Ligue 1 club in August after buying out his contract.

Neymar signed his most recent deal with Barcelona back in October 2016, when he penned a five-year extension.

The Catalans are seeking to receive "8.5m euros (£7.8m) in damages, and an additional 10% in interest".

Neymar signed a contract extension with the Catalan giants in October a year ago before leaving for Paris earlier this month in a €222 million deal.

"Paris Saint-Germain reiterates that, like Neymar Jr., it has always respected all applicable laws and rules in its dealings and, once again, regrets the attitude of FC Barcelona". "The club also requests that PSG subsidise the amounts in the event that the player can not take responsibility".

Trevor Siemian: Denver Broncos name starting quarterback

Professor, cohort back in Chicago in stabbing case
But the men instead fled the apartment and Chicago , prosecutors said, stopping twice to leave cash donations in the name of Mr. Cornell-Duranleau: one for $5,610 at a health center in Chicago and one for $1,000 at a public library in Lake Geneva, Wis.

The timing and force of Neymar's comments seemed odd at the time, but they now make flawless sense in light of Barcelona's lawsuit.

But Barcelona are now attempting to take legal action against their former player - though it's currently unclear if Neymar and his representatives will agree to meet the club's demands.

"FC Barcelona have taken these steps in order to defend their own interests after Neymar rescinded his contract with the club just a few months after signing a renewal until 2021".

Paris St Germain's record signing Neymar scored twice on his home debut as the 10-man side thrashed Toulouse 6-2 to go top of Ligue 1. He has been enjoying play, much more like he had done in Barcelona, but this time around, like many wanted or said, he is not in the shadow of Lionel Messi.

"I spent four handsome years there and parted happy", said the 25-year-old.
