Google Launches Search Lite App, Uses Less Data and is More Responsive

Google hasn't made any official announcement yet but this Search Lite appears to be in its testing phase already.

It led to a whole new world of Lite apps!

That's because the company is now piloting such an app in Indonesia, as the eagle-eyed team at Android Police first spotted. It will consume less data and take up limited storage on the device. The translate feature will now help users to search for content by simply typing or speaking.

Search Lite is meant to provide an experience that does not drift away from that of the regular Search app.

They company had earlier launched "YouTube Go", the lighter version of the YouTube app. The feature is looking to have great potential to establish and build communities not only for business purposes but also for sharing common ideas and interests.

The drive by the Google towards creating the lighter versions of its various apps is seen as part of the vision of its CEO Sundar Pichai to reach the 'next billion users'. You can change between a couple of languages by swiping the main app's page sideways, and you get several icons for quick access to some features beside search, like news, translation, weather, cricket scores, recipes, movies, songs, and more.
