CNBC reports that Disney will be pulling their content from Netflix, and they will be launching their own streaming service, set to premiere in 2019. "Getting the balance wrong could upset cable companies and weigh on the price they pay Disney for ESPN". That's a lot of entertainment to mine with over 70 years of movies and TV shows the company can now put into its own Mouse House. Some on Wall Street have doubts that Disney can easily replicate that revenue stream. The CEO of the company, Bob detailed that every movie that is made by Disney or Pixar will be shown only on the new service.

"W$3 e're also announcing a major strategic shift in the way we distribute our content".

High School Musical movies - Disney is "Breaking Free" from Netflix and said "I Gotta Go My Own Way" - a typical break-up.

Like many breakups, the one between Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) and Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) might get a bit messy. But a dedicated TV streaming service will open up this content and much more to a wider, global audience.

Disney will also make a significant investment in an annual slate of original movies, TV shows, short-form content and other Disney-branded exclusives for the service. Disney has agreed to acquire MLB's 42% stake in the venture for $1.58 billion, to add to the 33% it already owns.

While Iger said it was thinking about doing a streaming service for both its Star Wars and Marvel franchises, it's more than likely that they will be integrated at some point into this new streaming service.

Some Twitter users expressed frustration with losing access to their favorite Disney movies on Netflix.

The new Disney-branded service will become the exclusive home in the USA for subscription-video-on-demand viewing of the newest live action and animated movies from Disney and Pixar, beginning with the 2019 theatrical slate, which includes Toy Story 4, the sequel to Frozen, and The Lion King from Disney live-action, along with other highly anticipated movies. This release comes as part of Disney's competitive struggle to offer the most exclusive access to some of this generation's classics, with the Creatv Media's founder Peter Csathy claiming that although "Netflix has had a huge head start, Disney thinks it can win".

The news is certainly a blow for Netflix - shares have fallen 4% in light of the news. That deal has spawned Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the upcoming The Defenders as well as The Punisher. These are more complex to untangle given Netflix's deal with Disney over certain Marvel characters, but it doesn't take superhero senses to understand what is going on here.
