Mother in shock after teenage babysitters put infant in refrigerator

The baby's mother said she was away from the house for a little over half an hour when the Snapchat was posted.

Moments later, they opened the refrigerator and removed the infant.

"On Monday evening, around 9:30 p.m., we were contacted by the Swampscott Police Department about a video that had surfaced showing two females placing an infant in a refrigerator", Ambrose said.

"I was just traumatized by it", the mother said. She also said that the girls thought the stunt was a joke and that she doesn't believe they meant to harm her baby.

Police say the video posted on social media shows the teens putting the baby all the way into the refrigerator as the child is crying. "I don't want anyone near my child anymore", the child's mother, who was identified as Bonnie.

It remains unclear how long they left the baby inside, although the infant is reportedly ok.

That baby was only in the refrigerator for a few seconds and was not injured.

Bonnie says her niece is no longer allowed to babysit or see her 7-month-old.

The Department of Children and Families and local officials are now investigating the incident.
