A guy who probably won't have to throw a pass, but on the occasion that he might, at least people will sit upright, pay attention and root for the guy.

The Miami Dolphins and former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler agreed to a one-year deal on Sunday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

If Cutler does not work out, put in Matt Moore, who will not wow anyone, but will not make the mistakes that have plagued Cutler's career.

In his only season (2015) as Chicago Bears offensive coordinator, Gase watched Cutler have arguably his best season in the NFL.

Now that we're going to have to settle for whoever else Fox rolls out to replace Cutler, the Dolphins' move leaves us with a few questions starting with.

Football Power Index sees Cutler as a downgrade, but a slight one, relative to Tannehill and has dropped the Dolphins' projected win total from 7.3 to 7.0.

"And he's off.but this time as a dolphin so excited for my man on this next journey #MiamiDolphins", she captioned a photo of them kissing. Adam Gase got the most out of Cutler once, and now he will look to get even more out of him to keep his job.

Miami did consider other options, if Cutler hadn't been available, including Colin Kaepernick.

Gase's commitment to Cutler isn't the question, though. I'm confident we'll get something done.

The Chiefs are a more talented team overall than the Dolphins, but the two playoff hopefuls will square off officially on Christmas Eve in the second to last regular season game for each-another home game for Kansas City.

Yet when he showed up, his trademark Cutler nonchalance did, too.
