The music streaming service - which now has over 60 million paying subscribers - converted its existing app using Microsoft's Desktop Bridge tool, rather than developing a new app built on the Universal Windows Platform.

The Verge states that they have sources familiar with Spotify and Microsoft's plans who have confirmed that the app is now being tested internally. Akin to the likes of Netflix, the service instead of offering consumers with movies and television content aims in delivering music content from the both the latest and greatest artists to more indie and obscure groups and individuals. Users can now use Spotify with their consoles in a roundabout way with the Spoticast for Spotify Xbox app, but it not only costs $9.99 United States dollars, it also has mediocre reviews. Microsoft is also planning a number of dashboard enhancements to the Xbox One in the coming months, in the lead up to the new Xbox One X console.

The company has made their app available on many devices including Android, iOS, Windows 10, and the PlayStation consoles (by way of PlayStation Music).
