North Korea has said through its state media that Warmbier's death was "a mystery" and dismissed accusations that he had died as a result of torture and beating in captivity.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson promised on Tuesday that the United States is not trying to topple Kim Jong-Un's North Korean regime, but warned it must halt its nuclear missile program.

A USA passport will only get you into North Korea for the rest of August, the State Department announced Wednesday.

US-Thai relations have warmed this year, after the election of President Donald Trump.

"Once in effect, U.S. passports will be invalid for travel to, through and in North Korea, and individuals will be required to obtain a passport with a special validation in order to travel to or within North Korea", State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement last month announcing the policy.

Tillerson's remarks came days after the DPRK launched its second intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in a month, following the first being launched on July 4.

Han Chol-Su, a senior North Korea development official, earlier denied that the loss of business would hurt his country's economy.

Thornton declined to comment on any possible action but stressed that despite Trump's tweets, North Korea and the trade issue were not linked in a "transactional", but "in a sort of philosophical way". "We do not seek an excuse to send our military north of the 38th parallel", Tillerson said.

Arguing that China sees eye-to-eye with the United States about the threat posed by Pyongyang's aggressive weapons development, Tillerson said: "We don't blame the Chinese for the situation in North Korea".

Tillerson is travelling to Asia this week, where he will continue his drive to increase "peaceful pressure on the regime in North Korea to have them develop a willingness to sit and talk to us and others".

North Korean officials claimed Warmbier fell into a coma two months later due to botulism and a sleeping pill. Given that, the U.S. continues to bank on China.

Negotiations with the North Korean government are possible as long as there is "an understanding that a condition of those talks is there is no future where North Korea holds nuclear weapons or the ability to deliver those nuclear weapons to anyone in the region much less to the homeland". "They do not see it in their interest for North Korea to have nuclear weapons, just as we do not see it in anyone's interest".

U.S. President Donald Trump has demanded that China, North Korea's neighbor and biggest trade partner, rein in its nuclear ambitions-angrily tweeting over the weekend that Beijing is not doing enough. "Only the North Koreans are to blame for this situation".
