Xi warns China won't compromise on sovereignty

President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated President of the People's Republic of China, Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping on the 90th anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

Chinese President Xi Jinping reviewed the country's armed forces in the field on Sunday morning, as part of the commemorations to mark the 90th founding anniversary of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

President Xi has urged his troops to embrace his drive to modernise China's vast military machine as the country prepares to play a leading role on the world stage.

There, Xi told the troops to transform themselves into an elite force, reminding them to always follow the Communist party's orders.

"The world isn't safe at this moment", said Xi on Sunday.

Xi's remarks came amid the Sino-India standoff in the Sikkim section. I believe that our heroic army has the confidence and capability to defeat all invading... "We don't tolerate any activities against one China policy in our territory", he said adding the NA and PLA are friends for all season and share historic bonding.

Over the past 90 years, the PLA has held high the banner of the Party and shouldered the hopes of the nation, Xi said.

Xi ordered the PLA to uphold combat effectiveness as the "sole and fundamental" standard for the military.

China has rattled nerves around Asia and globally with its increasingly assertive stance in territorial disputes in the East and South China Seas and an ambitious military modernization plan.

China has take a lead in military drone applications including attack, reconnaissance and now electronic attack.

"All thoughts must be put on combat, and all work should focus on combat so the military can assemble, charge forward and win any time the party and the people need them to", he said.

"Pakistan and Chinese militaries have a very special bondage".

China announced in March it would raise its defence spending by around seven percent this year, the slowest annual percentage increase since 1991.

"This [Djibouti] initiative, along with regular naval vessel visits to foreign ports, both reflects and amplifies China's growing influence, extending the reach of its armed forces", the Pentagon said in a recent annual report to Congress on China's military.
