"Ask these MLAs the way they are threatened, they chose to stand by party even when offered Rs 15 crore", Gohil said.

"We are confident of the victory of our party candidate" in the crucial elections", Mr. Gohil said. "If their leaders are leaving them, it has nothing to do with us", he told PTI after the Congress attacked the saffron party.

Hitting back at the BJP, the Congress leader further said, "When there was flood in Banaskantha, my MLAs were there with people but no BJP minister, leader or chief minister was there". The MLAs in the meet said that they have taken refuge in the Congress-led Karnataka as they feared for their lives in their state ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. With six MLAs already having flown its coop of 57 since the ouster of strong man Shankersinh Vaghela, the Congress is fighting rearguard action to ensure the reelection of Patel. The lawmakers were shifted, ostensibly to prevent its rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from poaching them ahead of the Rajya Sabha poll in Gujarat on August 8 in which its senior leader Ahmed Patel is contesting for a fifth term.

Earlier, Gohil had said the legislators put up in the resort were living like a family and there was no disharmony or bickering within the party.

Seven other MLAs are not part of the group in the resort near Bengaluru but Gohil hoped they would listen to their "inner voice" and not vote against the Congress.

Patel exuded confidence of winning the Rajya Sabha election, to be held on August 8.
