Former Clemson QB signs with Ravens

Despite talking up Colin Kaepernick on Thursday, the Ravens passed on the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback as well as other free agents with National Football League experience to take David Olson instead. Well today the Ravens signed a quarterback who has never really been given a true chance to shine.

This is devastating news for the Ravens especially on offense where running back Kenneth Dixon has been lost for the year with a torn meniscus and quarterback Joe Flacco is now sitting out at least a week with a back injury.

Ravens' head coach John Harbaugh acknowledged they were looking at Kaepernick, but that's as far as it went.

Harbaugh brought up the possibility of signing free agent Colin Kaepernick on Thursday.

"It depends on Colin, first of all, what he wants to do". He played for Harbaugh's brother, Jim, at Stanford - appearing in just one game over four seasons - before transferring to Clemson in 2014 for a fifth-year senior season in which he threw just three passes, completing one of them (for a one-yard loss). There have been rumors that Colin Kaepernick could be called by the Ravens if Flacco misses more time. Now his football career has taken a dramatic turn with his signing with the Ravens.

"I feel great. I can honestly say that", he said. Kaepernick was a lightning of distraction during past year with the San Francisco 49ers, for not standing during the national anthem as a form of protest against police brutality across the country.

Mitchell had also been arrested in late June on multiple felony changes after a burglary in Suisun City, according to police. Daniel Mitchell of Fairfield was identified from witness reports and surveillance video from a nearby business.

He's likely to just be a camp arm, who is there as another quarterback on the roster.

If Harbaugh believes Kaepernick can help him win, general manager Ozzie Newsome will be alerted, and an offer would be proffered. Olson throwing to receivers who hope to make the roster, a temporary job, doesn't change that.

"We'll just see how it plays out", John Harbaugh told reporters Friday. We've craved specifics ever since Kaepernick opted out of his 49ers deal in March.

"That's what we're all hoping for", said Flacco, now in his 10th National Football League season.

But Flacco is now 32 years old and said that, as a taller quarterback, he's a little more susceptible to back trouble.
