Chelsea have revealed that an agreement has been reached with Real Madrid for the signing of Spain global striker Alvaro Morata.

British media reports said Chelsea would pay around 70 million pounds ($91 million) for Morata.

However, Real Madrid were quick to issue a statement praising the 24-year-old forward for the way he has conducted himself at the club.

The 24-year-old becomes the Blues' fourth signing of the summer after Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko, whilst it takes the club's spending close to £150m.

They were willing to match Real Madrid's hefty asking price for the forward, while Jose Mourinho's club was not.

The Blues had been desperately in need of a striker following Antonio Conte's decision to tell last season's top goalscorer Diego Costa that he was no longer needed by the club.

Colin Kaepernick Responds to Michael Vick's Advice to 'Cut His Hair'
Nothing Vick said will matter when it comes to a team giving, or not giving, Kaepernick a job. Just go clean cut. "Unless you talk to Colin personally, you probably won't know", Vick said.

Morata is expected to leave Madrid's training camp in the United States as soon as possible.

The deal will also be a timely boost for Conte who had endured frustration after failing to land either Lukaku or another potential signing, Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Morata's departure from Madrid is likely to see Real look to make a world record move for Kylian Mbappe of Monaco.

Chelsea have agreed a fee in the region of £71m for Morata.

Chelsea are unlikely to sanction a move until they bring in a replacement, and they could yet face competition from AC Milan for Morata.

Morata rejoined Real last summer from Juventus, and scored 20 goals as they won La Liga and the Champions League.
