Nawaz Sharif said in the last four year, power plants worth billions of rupees had been installed in Karachi, Punjab and other areas. However, Sharif remains to be defiant and rubbishes the claims that his family members have acquired illegal wealth.

"Our family has been in business since 1937", said Mr. Sharif, adding he has done nothing wrong and his conscience is clear. Already facing corruption allegations, Sharif, who is seen as a contender to follow in her father's footsteps as prime minister, could face fraud charges if it's determined she forged the trust deed.

The Dawn admitted in an editorial that the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report submitted to the Supreme Court on the Sharif family's assets held overseas as revealed by the Panama Papers was not a flawless document.

He said a narrative was being tried to be built since the report was submitted to the court. "Sharif may have his doubts about the fairness of the system, but the system has doubts about him".

Investigators may have found a key piece of evidence in a corruption investigation against Pakistan's prime minister-in the form of a Microsoft font.

The JIT submitted a report to the apex court on July 10 suggesting filing of corruption cases against all persons of the Sharif family named.

If the SC decides to implement the report, perhaps by next week, Sharif might either be removed or, at the very least, be rendered completely ineffectual.

Sharif's children were linked to offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands which were then used to purchase expensive property in London, and the Pakistan federal investigation agency believed the properties were bought with laundered money.

Sharif, the son of an industrialist, will have his fate decided by the Supreme Court, which could disqualify him or order a trial.

However, the JIT's findings have severely shaken Sharif's position, giving more ammunition to opposition and the military, which could have serious implications for India's security.

"Yesterday, we had asked for Nawaz Sharif's resignation on moral grounds, but today, after studying the JIT report, we are asking for his resignation on legal grounds", Bilawal said. Imran Khan, leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and Bilawal Bhutto of the Pakistan Peoples Party have warned that democracy could be in danger if Mr. Sharif would not agree to step down. If he were forced to step down, his ruling PML-N party could appoint a new leader as prime minister until the polls.
