Gymboree at the Mall of New Hampshire is one of two New Hampshire retail stores among the 350 stores nationwide slated to be closed by the company as part of a bankruptcy filing. Seven of the locations are in Colorado.

The San Francisco-based company said July 12 that it's mostly closing Gymboree and insane 8 stores, including a Gymboree in Boise and insane 8 in at the Magic Valley Mall in Twin Falls.

The company also is closing Gymboree stores in Bolingbrook, Vernon Hills, West Dundee, Bloomingdale, Springfield, Champaign, Peoria and Fairview Heights.

No word on the exact date the stores will be closing. All Janie and Jack stores in Arizona will remain open, according to a company website.

It says that with a smaller store base, it will be able to focus resources on locations with the greatest potential and improve the profitability of the overall business.

Gymboree Corp. will close four stores in Central Florida, including three Gymboree stores at local malls and a insane 8 store, which is geared toward boys and girls. Sears, for example, said recently that the company would close an additional eight Sears and 35 Kmart stores, adding to the hundreds of stores it already planned to shutter.

After this round of store closings, it will still have a handful of Gymboree stores in the area at Ridgedale Center, Twin Cities Premium Outlets, Albertville Premium Outlets, and in Woodbury.

Gymboree filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy last month.

As of April 29, the company had about 1,281 stores across its Gymboree, Gymboree Outlet, Janie and Jack, and insane 8 brands.

As people shop online more, traditional retailers such as Gymboree and shopping malls in general have been hit hard.
