Active Shooter at Bronx Hospital in NY

The NYPD arrived at the scene soon after the 2:50 p.m. report with a massive response of personnel and vehicles.

The NYPD is responding to a shooting at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital this afternoon. CLICK TO WATCH LIVE COVERAGE FROM EYEWITNESS NEWSThere were at least three people shot and a total of five people injured in the shooting.

Authorities believe the suspect could be a former employee of the hospital.

The 120-year-old hospital has almost 1,000 beds and one of the busiest emergency rooms in New York City.

The gunman, who was wearing a white lab coat and carrying ID, shot himself on the 16th floor, according to law enforcement officials.

Police swept the hospital searching for the shooter and found a trail of blood leading from the second to the eighth floor.

The hospital is around 120-year-old and claims that there are almost 1,000 beds spread across multiple units.
