Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thaniaddressed his neighbouring states on Monday asking them to life the blockade that Qatar has had to face.

According to the list, the Saudi-led bloc of countries wants Qatar to shut down the Doha-based Al Jazeera broadcaster, cut back diplomatic ties to Iran, close down a Turkish military base in Qatar and pay an unspecified sum in compensation.

Turkey rejected a call from four Arab states on Friday to shut down its military base in Qatar, saying the base was a guarantor of regional security, and demands for its closure represented interference in its ties with Doha.

He was speaking after an official from one of the four Arab states boycotting Qatar over alleged support for terrorism said they had sent Doha a list of 13 demands including closing down the military installation.

The embargo has been co-ordinated by the Saudis along with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt. Qatar has been given 10 days to comply with the demands.

The list also contained demands that Qatar close down a Turkish military base on its territory and shut down Doha-based broadcaster Al-Jazeera. Qatar, which sought to raise its profile in recent years, denies funding terrorism and fostering instability.

The demands, handed to Qatar by Kuwait, also require that Qatar stop interfering in the four countries' domestic and foreign affairs and stop a practice of giving Qatari nationality to citizens of the four countries, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Qatar is a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

He urged the countries to deliver the list to Qatar, which hosts the US's main military base in the Middle East, after growing exasperated with slow progress.

As CNSNews.com reported earlier, Al-Jazeera this month published a fatwa defending Qatar against the allegations of terror-sponsorship - written by a radical cleric who has been designated by the USA and United Nations for facilitating and funding terrorism.

Anwar Gargash, the United Arab Emirates state minister for foreign affairs, said Qatar had to take seriously its list of demands or the diplomatic emergency would turn into a "divorce".

-End diplomatic ties with Iran and limit trade with Iran to business that does not violate USA sanctions.

Suspend the ties with the Muslim Brotherhood, a forbidden organization in the Arab states.

On June 5 Saudi Arabia, along with a number of its allies, severed diplomatic ties with Qatar. They have also insisted on imposing a monitoring mechanism which would report regularly on Qatar's compliance with the demands.

"Maybe the fate of Al Jazeera will depend on talks between the government of Qatar and its neighbours".
