He missed out on making the All-NBA team, which meant the Pacers could not offer him a five-year, $207 million Designated Player Veteran Exception but would have to settle for a five-year, $177 million offer to George.

That number is only accurate if the Lakers renounce all of their free agents except for Julius Randle - Nick Young, Corey Brewer, Tarik Black and David Nwaba -and accounts for signing their two 2017 NBA Draft picks (No. 2 and No. 28) to rookie contracts.

There has been plenty of speculation over the past few months about Paul George and his future with the Indiana Pacers, and now, we have some clarity.

The Indiana Pacers apparently have been put on notice by franchise star Paul George, who told the team he plans to leave next summer and hopes to join the Los Angeles Lakers, The Vertical reported Sunday. Still, it sounds like fans of the Los Angeles Lakers shouldn't hold their breathe for George ending up on the team this offseason.

Still, even with all those rumors out there, it may take some time before a George trade materializes, if it ever does. It's a fact that could depress the trade market for him, to the Lakers' advantage. Recently, George had planned on evaluating his future and letting the Pacers know of his decision and it appears he's come to a final verdict. "I am under contract and I intend to play", he said while sitting in the first base dugout. Or they can move now and trade for the All-Star wing this summer.

The Paul George rumor mill is never going to stop churning.
