Golfers get in final practice shots at US Open at Erin Hills

Although the newest US Open venue may have hazardous rough, they felt that as Erin Hills has the widest fairways in the event's history the fescue should just be treated as normal a hazard. There's a majestic-ness to Rory's golf game and to his swing and how he goes about playing the game and moves around the golf course.

But that's what they did.

Jordan Spieth, the 2015 U.S. Open champion, thinks the victor at Erin Hills could get to 10-under. That's going to wreck the pace of play. "And if guys can't put it into play within a 50-yard zone, I don't think they've got much to complain about".

The world No2 has been based a 40-minute drive from the course since last Friday and getting in practice ahead of his rivals, most of did who not start arriving to Monday. While watching them play provides plenty of excitement and fun, the USGA hopes many who watch will also get out and play after the tournament wraps up.

Umm, if you say so.

In January, he suffered a stress fracture of one of his ribs, a common injury of both professional and weekend golfers.

"It's a penalty for sure hitting it in there, half a shot to a shot maybe". That was a tie for 35th at the Players Championship in mid-May.

"We've had good experiences with it", Davis said. "But if you play well, which is obviously what this championship is trying to identify, it's a very, very fine and playable golf course". "Tough conditions, windy conditions, rain whatever it is, as long as it's harder, I feel like I play a lot better in conditions like that".

Paul Azinger, a 12-time victor on the PGA Tour and current analyst for Fox, sees the lack of play rather than the injury as McIlroy's biggest hurdle. And I've had a few weeks to chip and putt around and get comfortable with it. He shot, I think 16-under par, I shot 8-under par, and we got lapped by him.

"And if he looks at it that way, and he's patient, he doesn't have to bring his best stuff right out of the gate".

Surely only a matter of time before he becomes the next South African to win a major and it could be either here or at Royal Birkdale next month. But he hasn't won one since taking his second PGA Championship in 2014.

Fox News phases out 'Fair & Balanced' slogan
After resigning from his position, he reportedly went on to advise then-presidential candidate Donald Trump who defended Ailes. The decision to shed the "fair and balanced" slogan was made this past August by network co-president Jack Abernathy (left).

US consumer prices slipped 0.1 percent in May
American consumers forked out a total of US$473.8 billion (RM2 trillion) for the month, 3.8 per cent above May of a year ago . Monthly prices fell for apparel, airfare, communication and medical care services, the Labor Department said.

Trump Tweet Cited in Court Decision on Travel Ban
Trump issued his initial travel ban on a Friday in late January, bringing chaos and protests to airports around the country. But the Ninth Circuit ruling certainly was another setback for Trump in his quest to see the measure put into effect.

Hearing that the USGA had cut down the fescue on four holes - fourth, 12th, 14th and 18th - McIlroy responded incredulously: "Really?"

"We have 60 yards from the left line to the right line".

I'm of the opinion that because of the insane wide fairways, the USGA should have left everything alone and let the course play as it stands. Even the first and second cut is another 10 yards on top of that.

We thought earlier in the week that we would see an incredibly penal golf course on the edges, but the USGA remedied that by whacking down much of the knee-high fescue on Tuesday.

It's not like Madison's Steve Stricker couldn't have found anything else to do this week if he hadn't made the field for the 117th U.S. Open. However, as the 2011 victor at Congressional has noted, this is a hazard that players at the highest level should expect to avoid on the large and expansive property.

"Put a lot of extra effort in playing some extra tournaments".

"It's a great way to promote the benefits of a nine-hole round".

Jeff Sherman at Golf Odds, incidentally, has Dustin Johnson a 7/1 favorite, while McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day are at 12/1. To them, the fescue is just another hazard to avoid. It goes in these collection areas and runoffs.

Day, the 2015 US PGA champion, was equally effusive about his chances of breaking the current string of six consecutive first-time major winners.

It's as if it was designed that way.
