The joint investigation team (JIT), set up to examine the business dealings of the Sharif family overseas, on Monday told the Supreme Court (SC) that not only have some governmental departments shown reluctance in handing over relevant records, but some records have also been tampered with, DawnNews reported.

Another judge, Justice Azmat Saeed Shaikh, observed that there would be far-reaching consequences in case of forgery.

Former Interior Minister Senator Rehman Malik has been summoned by the Joint Investigation Team on Tuesday. He said he would also review the progress on the Model Town carnage.

To this, the additional attorney general replied that the JIT has no issues if the report is shared with the petitioner's counsel. The bench also hinted during the hearing that it may release the report publicly.

"The JIT has alleged that certain institutions are altering records".

Earlier, sources had said the JIT had completed its probe into the leaking of Hussain's picture by conducting inquiries against personnel responsible for the JIT secretariat's security as well as CCTV recording.

Use-of-force expert: Minnesota officer justified in shooting
The defense has rested in the trial of a Minnesota police officer charged with manslaughter in the death of a black motorist. Earlier this week, Reynolds testified that she felt she had to record the encounter with Yanez out of fear for her own life.

The remarks were made after the three-judge bench of the apex court went through an application filed by the investigation body, highlighting impediments being faced by its members during its probe.

In recent weeks, Mr. Sharif's two sons - Hussain and Hassan - have been grilled for hours by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) comprising financial experts and representatives of intelligence agencies.

Mr. Sharif's government has accused some of the JIT members of having sympathies for Opposition parties.

In its judgement of April 20 in the Panama Papers case, the Supreme Court had constituted a JIT and empowered it to summon the prime minister, his sons and any other person necessary, to investigate allegations of money-laundering, through which the four apartments in London's posh Park Lane area were purchased.

He said the JIT will not be able to find any evidence against him or his family as they have not committed any crime, adding that there is nothing against them except for accusations.
