The Cavs set Finals records with 86 points in the first half, 49 in the first quarter, and 3-pointers in a game (24). Then again, few had a player like James, who set an NBA Finals record with his ninth triple-double in Game 4, or Irving, who scored 40 points.

White this year's NBA Finals took a different trajectory that last year's between the same teams, it is exactly at the same point after 4 games, with the Warriors leading 3-1. Cleveland won Game 3 at home, lost Game 4 and then won the final three games - Game 7 in Oakland - to capture the city's first sports championship since 1964. "You know, you hear some chatter going on throughout the Warriors locker room in terms of them trying to end it here, and it was another do-or-die game for us, and we had to leave it all out there".

Kyle Korver, the Cavaliers sharpshooter who missed the go-ahead three before Kevin Durant's transition 3 that sealed Game 3 win for the Warriors, said that his team had looked at the Game 3 film and found several areas where they could have done better on defence.

Powered by a three-point barrage and a first quarter onslaught that was the highest-scoring quarter in Finals history, the Cavs never trailed Friday night and handed the Dubs their first loss of the playoffs.

From a basketball perspective, the Cavs have progressed throughout the series, from very bad in Game 1 to less so in Game 2, followed by a heartbreaking Game 3 they should've won but couldn't score in the final three minutes of a five-point loss.

Part of what fueled that outburst was apparently smack talk by Draymond Green. It probably will take another gargantuan performance from James and Irvings in Game 5 to keep the series going.

A Durant 3-pointer at the buzzer brought the Warriors a little closer. "But we'll go tee it up again". "So we're in a great spot, and now we have to capitalize", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. Tristan Thompson finally chose to show up in Game 4 and if he continues to do so, the Warriors can't afford to lose Pachulia to a silly foul.

"We got to find our edge next game". In Game 4, the Cavaliers finally got that trio locked in at the same time, and it was a fearsome thing.

Irving was referring to an interview Green gave Thursday, when he openly relished in the seeming inevitability of the Warriors winning their second championship in three years on Cleveland's home court.

The Warriors couldn't make history in Game 4, and now they're going to try and prevent history from repeating itself. 1951 New York Knicks were the only finals team down 3-0 to force a seventh game. The Cavaliers won that game to start what became the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history. Now they need the biggest ever in the NBA's postseason. No team has erased a 3-0 deficit in any series. And this came against one of the top defenses in the National Basketball Association, as Golden State ranks second out of 16 teams with a 101.8 defensive rating in the playoffs. But it was a flawless storm for the Cavaliers as so many things contributed to the Warriors' collapse.

"It's The Finals. Guys are going to talk", he said.

"We're relishing the challenge and welcome all challenges that we'll be faced with throughout the game".

Golden State guard Stephen Curry also had his worst game of the Finals, scoring a mere 14 points on four-of-13 shooting.

But until the Cavs did it a year ago, no team had ever rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win the Finals. They are the best in their conference and we know why.
