Multiple casualties reported after separate 'terrorist incidents' rock London

Police responded to a third incident in the Vauxhall area, but have determined it was a stabbing a not a terror incident.

Witnesses also reported seeing people being stabbed by at least one man.

Police have confirmed they are responding to three separate incidents along the Thames River.

It was the third terror attack to strike the United Kingdom this year, after a man drove a vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in March and the bomb attack on an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester two weeks ago.

Police said shots were fired and urged people to flee the area.

Update [03:04 AM PST]: Multiple resources are now attending the incident at London Bridge, British police mentioned, urging people to avoid the area.

The attacks come days ahead of a June 8 election and less than two weeks after a suicide bomber killed 22 people at a pop concert by USA singer Ariana Grande in Manchester in northern England.

May's office said she was "in contact with officials and is being regularly updated on the incident at London Bridge".

London Bridge rail station has been closed at the request of the police. "He hit about two people in front of me and then three behind", she said.

"We were in an Uber (taxi) going towards London Bridge and suddenly we saw people running".

Police say a hit-and-run and stabbings on and near London Bridge have been officially declared a "terrorist incident".

Other estimates say as many as 20 people may have been injured in the incident.

"I was walking out of the London Bridge station and there were police", Caroline Breniere said.

BBC reporter Holly Jones, who was there at the time of the incident, said she saw a van driven by a man travelling "at about 50 miles an hour".

The Telegraph and BBC News have both reported that May has announced the incident is being treated as a "potential act of terrorism".

Eyewitnesses reported panic in the vicinity of the attacks, close to a major transport hub and in an area packed with restaurants and bars.

"There was a van that crashed into the fences on London Bridge".

A cab driver said he saw three men with "twelve inch" blades get out of the van after the crash and start "stabbing people at random" on Borough High Street.

"Certainly we are all on edge given what has happen in Manchester recently".

Grande visited victims of the bombing in the hospital Saturday and is scheduled to perform at a star-studded benefit concert in Manchester on Sunday.
