At Google's annual developer conference this week, Google I/O 2017 (May 17-19), the company revealed plans to bring augmented reality (AR) to its immersive education platform Google Expeditions.

Google is going to be running a pilot program later this year, but until the Tango tech is in more widely available devices it's going to remain a very valuable tool, but one outside the reach of most schools. The ZenFone AR will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with a massive 8GB RAM.

Google has put the Project Tango in the works for quite some time now and the latest smartphone to support the AR technology was announced back at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. Daydream is a high-quality virtual reality (VR) platform that is built into the Android operating system to support VR apps.

The ASUS ZenFone AR will also boast a 5.7-inch display panel with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels and be powered by the Snapdragon 821, Qualcomm's a year ago system-on-chip (SoC) equipped with the Adreno 530 GPU.

Russia, Saudi Arabia back extension of oil output cuts
The ministers agree the deal should be extended through the first quarter of next year at the same volume of cuts, Al-Falih said. The EIA said it expects OPEC's total oil export revenues to increase in 2017 and 2018 because of gains in crude oil prices.

The company also says, "For VR, the large, high-resolution and high-contrast display of the ZenFone AR makes it ideal for VR applications when used as a VR display mounted in the Daydream View headset". With Tango, the ZenFone AR receives area learning, depth perception, and motion tracking. ASUS claims the audio should be exceptionally loud thanks to a 5-magnet speaker system.

It would be possible for the phone to come with Android O installed out of the box instead of Nougat, but it is highly unlikely that any third-party manufacturer will be able to configure Android O that fast.

Photographic Maestro: TheZenFone AR is also an accomplished camera smartphone. However, it has not been confirmed as to whether the phone will be made available carrier-free as well, perhaps making an worldwide release impossible.
